The word Noosa originates from the Aboriginal language and means “shade” or “shadows” . The Aboriginal Kabi tribe has been visiting Noosa for 40,000 years before European settlement.

Noosa is approximately 136 km north of Brisbane on the East Coast of Australia in the Sunshine Coast. Noosa is located on the Noosa River where the main town of Noosa sits on the south bank.

The closest airport to Noosa is the Sunshine Coast Airport which is also known as Maroochydoore Airport and it takes approximately 30 minutes to drive north to Noosa passing through Coolum and Peregian Springs.

Noosa is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit is during autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November).

Noosa Main Beach, Sunshine Beach, and Alexandria Bay are all popular beaches to visit.

The nearest airport is Sunshine Coast Airport, with direct flights from major cities. Noosa is also easily accessible by car from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

Hastings Street is a popular location, with a range of accommodation options and easy access to the beach and local attractions.

The driving time from Brisbane to Noosa is around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and route taken. The most direct route is via the Bruce Highway (M1) and Sunshine Motorway (M70).
