At the southern end, the dramatic volcanic crags of the Glass House Mountains National Park are an ideal backdrop for scenic drives, bushwalking and adventure rock climbing.

A short stroll from Noosa's chic Hastings Street is Noosa National Park, one of Queensland's few coastal national parks. It’s teeming with warrum froglets, koalas and glossy black cockatoos.

You can try spotting peregrine falcons flying around the paperbark wetlands of Mount Coolum National Park.

The pristine Cooloola National Park is the place to soak up the wonders of nature on foot, by four-wheel-drive or on the river. There are hundreds of walking trails, from gentle rainforest circuits and picturesque coastal trails to challenging overnight wilderness camping treks like the 46.2km Great Sandy National Park’s Cooloola Wilderness Trail.

Go bushwalking or bird-spotting in Mapleton Falls National Park where the spectacular cascade of Mapleton Falls tumbles off the western escarpment of the Blackall Range.

The Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk is 58 kilometres of trails in Maleny Forest Reserve, Kondalilla National Park and Mapleton Falls National Park through gorges, subtropical rainforests and eucalypt forests.
