Cooloola

Located between the World Heritage listed Fraser Island and Noosa, Cooloola is a natural, unspoilt paradise. Cooloola provides an alternative to the throngs of crowds and is an unexplored wonder waiting to be discovered. The region is a mixture of deserted beaches, the pristine hinterland area of the Mary Valley and the timeless heritage of Gympie.

Rainbow Beach is a great destination for surfing, camping or a base to tour the Cooloola National Park. A 10-minute ride on a barge from Rainbow Beach will transfer you to the largest sand island in the world, the internationally renowned Fraser Island. This experience is awe-inspiring. Fraser Island’s flourishing freshwater lakes, sparkling clear creeks, trees aged over 1000 years old and amazing collection of flora and fauna combine to produce one of the great treasures of the earth.

The Great Sandy Strait is an area of calm waters located between the mainland and Fraser Island and stretches from the Wide Bay area near Rainbow Beach to Hervey Bay. It is regarded as one of the best kept secrets in Queensland for its beauty and stunning appeal.
